Roadtrip 2015 Fall: Vancouver - Astoria - Bandon - Anderson - Paso Robles - Palm Desert - Morongo Valley - Sedona - Henderson - Lone Pine - Sacramento - Ashland - Newport - Astoria - Vancouver

Day 47 - Henderson - Pahrump - Death Valley - Lone Pine

Were not sure if this means BIngo outdoors, or indoor smoke free Bingo. Indeed if it is outdoor Bingo - will they still allow smoking?

Yup, once again they're digging up the desert, the new home frenzy is in full swing and increasing the Vegas footprint- hope this doesn't mean another inevitable land crash.

We think Yoda has been here.

It says Open - but it's not - it is in fact for sale. Prime corner - downtown Pahrump.

The jury is still out on this guy.

The lonely road to Death Valley. Weirdly, Death Valley itself is not so lonely.

The last hotel standing in Death Valley Junction. Barely.

This fellow is carefully demonstrating the technique for the newest rage of downhill bowling at Zebriskie Point. Everyone's getting bored of the same old view every time they come.

The Zebriskie Point bowling chute.

The unclassic view from underneath Zabriskie Point.

If you get just the right spin on the ball, before it hits the chute, it wil curl perfectly and make it all the way through the curve and down to the parking lot where the cars make very nice targets. Extra points if you hit a Porsche.

They never promised a comfortable place to sit.

Fire damage at Furnace Creek. Guess the Furnace was left up too high.

Death Valley threw us a new ghost town to ponder.

Last light as we climb out of the Valley.

Today's optical illusion - is that a lake or a fjord?

Last dust - you really want to be off that road before darkness closes in.

Somehow, the Merry Go Round is a Chinese restaurant. In Lone Pine, you just gotta go with it.

Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" comes to life.

They can really cook here, even though the first three letters (Sea) have fallen off their marquee. We knew about this restaurant, went looking for it, and even drove right past it twice, because of their (lack of) sign. A true stealth chef.
